Decision framework

Five questions to ask any AI training provider

1. Practitioners

Who actually teaches?

Ask whether instructors ship production AI systems or only teach. If the answer is only teach, the material will lag the field by 12-18 months.

2. Data

Does the exercise use realistic data?

Toy datasets hide every problem that matters in enterprise AI: noisy sources, bilingual content, permissions, entity ambiguity, evaluation. Insist on realistic corpora, ideally your own.

3. Language

Is bilingual EN/中文 covered?

Most global curricula skip Traditional Chinese tokenisation, Cantonese terminology and cross-lingual retrieval. In Hong Kong, that gap is where RAG accuracy actually breaks.

4. Evaluation

How do participants know it works?

A serious course teaches evaluation, not just building. Look for faithfulness, answer completeness and citation-fidelity metrics.

5. After the course

Is there a path to deployment?

A course that ends at slides is a cost. A course that hands you an evaluated pilot, or a provider who can consult on rollout, is an investment. Ask up front.
