Eligibility, fees and the renewal cycle for the Certified Cognitive AI Professional (CAIP™) credential — what applicants should expect before they apply.
Eligibility
Who can apply
CAIP™ is designed for professionals leading or working within an AI environment. It is a vendor-neutral certification focused on strategic implementation and governance. No prior AI technical experience or capability is mandatory, and a strong technology leadership background is particularly well suited to the programme.
Professional background
A degree or professional qualification, or equivalent working experience in engineering, IT, data, risk, compliance, project management or a related discipline.
AI technical prerequisites
Prior AI technical experience or capability is not mandatory. A strong technology leadership background is particularly relevant.
Supporting documents
Identity document, CV, and evidence of qualifications or experience are uploaded with the online application form.
Language
Instruction and assessment are delivered in English, with Cantonese and Putonghua support during live sessions.
Fees
What it costs
Programme fees are confirmed per cohort. The pricing page lists the current fee structure and any cohort discounts; where a figure is still being finalised it is marked so you can request it directly.
- Application review
- Charged once per application; covers document review and eligibility assessment.
- Programme and examination
- Covers live lectures, course materials and the proctored examination sitting.
- Re-sit
- Candidates who do not pass the examination on their first attempt are entitled to one free, immediate resit on the same day.
- Registry listing and digital badge
- Included with a successful certification; no separate charge.
Fees are quoted in HKD and confirmed in writing before payment. Corporate and cohort rates are available on request.
Renewal
The renewal cycle
The CAIP™ credential operates on a three-year cycle. Holders must accumulate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours during each three-year period to maintain their certification. CPD hours can be earned through eligible AI activities and events, such as the AIKm Annual Conference.
- Current validity
- Check the AIKm Registry for the current status and expiry date of an individual credential.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Maintain your certification by accumulating CPD hours during each three-year period.
- Notification
- Keep your email address in the registry current so you can receive renewal information.
- Registry re-listing
- On successful renewal, the registry record and digital badge are updated with a new expiry date.
Conduct and records
Standards that apply throughout
- Holders must represent the credential accurately and only while it is listed as active in the registry.
- The CAIP™ mark, badge and registry record may not be altered, reproduced or transferred.
- Examination misconduct results in withdrawal of the credential and removal from the registry.
- Registry records are maintained by AIKm and corrected on request by the holder.
