Renewal
CAIP™ certificate renewal
How the CAIP™ renewal cycle will work, what is confirmed today, and what holders should do while the formal policy is being finalised.
Current status
Where the renewal policy stands
The formal validity period and renewal cycle are being finalised by the AIKm Certification Task Force and will be published on this page once confirmed.
Until the policy is published, every credential listed in the AIKm Registry remains valid and verifiable. No action or renewal payment is required from holders.
Confirmed
What is confirmed today
- Registry is authoritative
- The AIKm Registry always reflects the current status of every credential. Employers should verify there rather than relying on printed documents.
- No lapse during the interim
- Credentials issued since the Q1 2026 pilot launch do not lapse while the renewal cycle is being finalised.
- Governance
- The renewal cycle is set and reviewed by the AIKm Certification Task Force, alongside the examination and syllabus.
- Notification
- Holders will be notified by email at the address held in the registry before any renewal requirement takes effect.
Expected shape
What renewal is expected to involve
The Task Force is reviewing the following components. They are indicative of the direction of travel, not a final policy.
A fixed validity period
A defined number of years from the issue date, after which the credential must be renewed to remain listed as active.
Continuing professional development
Evidence of continued practice and learning in AI governance and delivery over the validity period.
A renewal fee
An administrative fee covering registry maintenance, verification services and badge issuance.
Registry re-listing
On successful renewal, the registry record and digital badge are updated with a new expiry date.
In the meantime
What holders should do now
- Keep the email address on your registry record current so renewal notices reach you.
- Keep your CAIP™ digital badge on LinkedIn linked to your registry record.
- Retain records of AI governance training, projects and events you complete — these are likely to count toward renewal.
- Contact us if your employer requires a written statement on validity for procurement or tender purposes.
